Inspiration post – New Year’s Resolutions

I’m not one for making New Year’s resolutions. I see them as a waste of time and setting yourself up to fail by putting unreasonable expectations on yourself.

My husband and I truly believe that if you want to make changes to yourself then you shouldn’t have to wait until the first day of a new year.

Those changes can and should be made anytime.

I have goals I want to achieve this year, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t see them as resolutions.

Goals are something that can be started at any point.  The reason mine are starting this year and haven’t happened before is because of lifestyle and time constraints.

I have been planning these goals and putting things into place for many months, all with the goal of starting this year.

Changes are often made on the 1st of January due to social pressures, people thinking that they have to have a new year’s resolution.

But really, to make changes and adopt healthier lifestyle habits, you should probably try small steps rather than grand leaps and gestures.  Plan and be strategic.

The answer to make long term changes is to plan rather than just stop dead on 1st January.

Really think about what you want to achieve.  Are you putting out a resolution just because you feel you need to, or is it something you really want to do?  Because if so, plan it, go slow and do it for you, not because you feel obliged too.

Trust yourself.
