Inspiration post – Element of Water

I love water. The feel of it on my skin in a shower, swimming in a pool or just paddling in the ocean, but I prefer a body of water within a forest.

I love waterfalls.  The power of the water rushing over rocks is amazing.

The feeling it gives me is unexplainable.

I adore small creeks running through bushland and lakes surrounded by trees.

I am drawn to the ocean for various reasons. I find it useful to clear my head and for certain inspirations.  I spend time at the ocean’s edge, but it would not be my first choice.

A decent, spectacular thunderstorm really drives me and makes me feel wild and free. I love listening to the rain fall when I’m in bed at night, knowing I am warm and snuggled in my bed.

You can be inspired by water in so many ways.

The rain, ocean, lakes, rivers being the obvious ones.  But think about the not so obvious. Tears, the water that makes up much of our bodies, the amniotic fluid in our womb that supports life.  Water in different forms such as ice, gas, snowflakes. So many forms of water and how it can describe our emotions and the flow of emotions within you.

The element of Water is associated with the qualities of emotion, intuition and unconsciousness. It is a feminine (passive) element. It is to do with the wisdom of age. It represents a time past the peak of livelihood, moving towards the end of a cycle.  Water is one of the two elements that can have a physical existence and can interact with all the physical senses.

Water is still considered less material (and thus superior) to Earth because it possesses more motion and activity than Earth.

So, if you feel like you connect with water in any way, shape or form, take the time to explore and feel it in all its identities.  Water can take you to places of calmness, wildness and other extremes, especially when associated with a new or full moon.

Enjoy experimenting with this element and involving it in your creative writing.
