Inspiration Post

I started writing poems only about 18 months ago when the world decided to give me grief when I turned 40.  It was during a time when I was extremely low and I saw a well-known poet asking people to take part in a poetry workshop online just for fun.

I had never written a word of poetry in my life but found this was something I really enjoyed.  Being unable to journal, I felt that everything was bottled up and I finally found the release I needed in writing poems.

I started to post some of my poems on private groups on Facebook and showed them to friends and family. the feedback I had actually surprised me. I had women reaching out to me telling me that they could feel my words and that they could relate.  This gave me so much more confidence, hence why I have finally started a blog. I want to share these poems and let people know that they have strength and they are not alone.

Most of my work is from personal experience and thoughts that come to me when I am at a low period. I find that the emotion is so much easier to write about because you actually feel it.  I seem to enjoy finding connections to my emotions in nature and it’s this that always inspires me. I have started to notice the little things that are surrounding me, even the smells in the air when I am walking.  It all becomes clear to me and turning that into words is something I love doing.

So, I encourage anyone out there who is struggling, or even not struggling, put pen to paper and let the words come out. You may just be amazed at what you discover.
